Prominent religious scholar and ex-JUI MPA Sheikh Idres martyred in Charsadda
The attack on Sheikh Idrees took place this morning while he was on his way from his home to the madrassa

Charsadda: In the Utmanzai area of Charsadda, militants identified as “Fitna al-Khawarij” have martyred a prominent religious scholar and former JUI member of the assembly, Sheikh Muhammad Idrees.
The attack on Sheikh Muhammad Idrees took place this morning while he was on his way from his home to the madrassa.
Even prior to the martyrdom of Sheikh Muhammad Idrees, the group referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij has repeatedly targeted religious seminaries and political leaders.
On July 21, 2025, in Charsadda, Fitna al-Khawarij shot and killed religious leader Pir Ibrahim. Similarly, on July 10, 2025, in the Shindai Mor area of Bajaur, ANP leader Maulana Khan Zeb was also killed by the same group.
On March 14, 2025, a suicide attack on a mosque in South Waziristan left JUI’s district amir, Maulana Abdullah Nadeem, injured. Earlier, on February 28, 2025, a mosque in Akora Khattak was targeted, resulting in the martyrdom of JUI leader Hamid ul Haq Haqqani.
