Prime Minister Justin Trudeau won the second term but lost the majority in Canada’s federal election held on September 20 to elect the Country’s 44th Parliament.
Trudeau‘s Liberal Party secured 157 seats, falling short of 13 seats which would have raised the number to 170 required for a majority in the 338-seat House of Commons.
In addition, the runner-up Conservatives led by Erin O’Toole sealed 119 seats, Yves-Francois Blanchet’s Bloc Quebecois won 34 seats while Jagmeet Singh-led New Democratic Party (NDP) bagged 25 seats.
