In Sindh, 99% of aspiring teachers fail Junior-level aptitude test

Karachi: The disappointing results of teachers' tests conducted by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) have cast a pall over education standards in Sindh as less than 1% of the candidates managed to clear the exam.

Of the 160,000 candidates who appeared for the test for the post of Junior Elementary School Teacher (JEST) only 0.78% managed to pass.

In other words, not even one percent candidates could pass the test.

The IBA conducted the examination in the province last week.

The results were shared by Sindh Minister for Education Syed Sardar Shah with the provincial cabinet in its meeting yesterday.

Reportedly, over 500,000 applications were received against the 46,500 vacancies of primary school teachers (PSTs) and JEST.
