As per sources, the OGRA has sent a summary to the petroleum division seeking an increase in petrol price by Rs5.25 per litre.
Islamabad: Fuel prices in Pakistan is expected to increase by Rs5.25 per litre from October 1, said sources quoting a proposal sent by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to the Ministry of Finance.
As per sources, the OGRA has sent a summary to the petroleum division seeking an increase in petrol price by Rs5.25 per litre.
The price of diesel is expected to move up by Rs3.5 per litre, the sources added.
The Ministry of Finance, however, would make a final decision after consultations with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“The change in petroleum prices will rely on adjustments on petroleum levy,” said sources adding that General Sales Tax (GST) will added to the petrol and diesel prices.
“Currently, there is an Rs5.62 per litre petroleum levy imposed on petrol and Rs5.14 per litre on diesel,” they said.
On September 15, the federal government announced Rs5 increase in the price of petrol owing to the fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variation.
With Rs5 increase, Petrol costs Rs123.30 per litre, whereas high-speed diesel, with an increase of Rs5.01, costs Rs120.04 per litre.
In addition, kerosene is priced at Rs96.26 per litre, whereas light diesel oil is being sold at Rs90.69 per litre.
