Thousands attend funeral prayer of legendary comedian Umer Sharif in Karachi
As per legend’s last will, he will be laid to rest at the premises of the shrine of Saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi RA.


Karachi: The dead body of Pakistan’s ‘King of comedy’ Umer Sharif has been transported from Germany to Karachi in the wee hours of Wednesday (today), GNN reported.
The deceased was earlier shifted to Istanbul from Munich, from where a Turkish Airlines TK-1634 plane carried the body to transport to Pakistan.
The legend’s wife Zareen Ghazal and Pakistan’s counsel general in Germany Amjad Ali accompanied the dead body.
Upon arrival, the coffin was wrapped in the Pakistani flag and handed over to the sons of the deceased comedian. All arrangements were made by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to receive the dead body at the cargo terminal of the Karachi airport.
Umer Sharif has been shifted to the mortuary of the social welfare department. His funeral prayer would be offered today in Clifton.
The funeral prayers will be offered at Umer Sharif Park at 3:00 pm and Maulana Bashir Farooqui will lead the prayers.
