San Diego: A small plane crashed in a densely populated San Diego suburb, killing two people, including a UPS driver and an Arizona physician— leaving a trail of destruction. At least, ten homes were damaged.
The crash site was few miles north of Gillespie Field, a small San Diego County airport. Following the unfortunate incident, two houses were completely destroyed and a third was badly damaged.
It was unclear how many people were aboard the plane, although fire officials say nobody aboard would have survived the crash.
The condition of the injured couple wasn’t immediately known. Authorities have not identified any of the victims.
Moreover, several vehicles, including the UPS delivery truck, were also torched.
“Not to be too graphic, but it’s a pretty brutal scene,” Justin Matsushita, Santee’s deputy fire chief, said as firefighters searched the smoldering ruins.
The plane, which was identified as a two-engine Cessna C340, crashed into the residential neighborhood at about 12:15 p.m. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it is investigating the crash.
One fire official termed the sight as a ‘brutal scene’.
The plane, was reportedly owned by Das, had departed from Yuma and was scheduled to land at Montgomery-Gibb Executive Airport in San Diego.
