Kabul: A Taliban police chief was killed while 11 others sustained injuries after a bomb ripped through a vehicle in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday, local authorities say.
As per details, the bomb targeted the vehicle carrying the Taliban police chief of the Shigal district, Abdullah Irfan. Taliban officials, however, did not disclose details of the incident.
Reports quoting sources said that 12 people were injured in the blast and were hospitalized as soon as the incident reported.
Seven civilians, including a schoolboy, were also among the wounded, said doctors.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack but the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (IS-K) group, which is active in eastern Afghanistan, has claimed similar attacks on the Taliban in the past.
The Taliban has battled IS-K since its emergence in Afghanistan in 2014.
IS-K has claimed responsibility for some of the most recent attacks, including a suicide bombing among worshippers last week in a mosque that killed around 100 people.
The security situation remained generally calm but uncertain across Afghanistan since the Taliban's takeover.
