The federal government increased per litre petrol price by Rs8.03 and high speed diesel by Rs8.13.


Islamabad: Dropping another bomb on masses, the federal government hiked the POL prices on early Friday.
Accoridng to a notification, the petrol will be available in Rs145.82 after Rs8.03 increase, kerosene oil in Rs116.53 after Rs6.27 increase, while High Speed Diesel (HSD) will be available in Rs142.62 after Rs8.13 increase.
Light diesel will be available in Rs114.07 after Rs5.72 increase.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Prime Minister Imran Khan had refused proposal to increase the POL prices on November 1, but the increase was indispensable keeping in view less recoveries.
The government is providing relief in making adjustments in sales tax and levies, the ministry claimed.
Earlier the PTI government had hiked the POL prices on October 16. The price of petrol was incraesed by Rs10.49 per litre, High-Speed Diesel by Rs12.44, kerosene oil by Rs10.95 and light diesel oil by Rs8.84 per litre.
The notification had claimed that in the current scenario, the government has absorbed the pressure and provided maximum relief to consumers by keeping the Petroleum Levy and Sales Tax to a minimum.
