Karachi: Election Tribunal has rejected the nomination papers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Saifullah Abro on a technocrat seat, nullifying the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the process.

According to details, a petition was filed in election tribunal by Mustafa Memon against acceptance of Saifullah Abro’s nomination papers.
In the petition, it was mentioned that Saifullah Abro concealed his assets in the papers and Returning Officer accepted his nomination papers without hearing the other side.
The petitioner requested tribunal to nullify ECP’s decision and disqualify PTI leader for forthcoming Senate elections.
"The objections raised by the petitioners were proved true and Saifullah Abro does not fulfil the requirement of a technocrat," the order stated.
Earlier today, the election tribunal sought a reply from Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda after his Senate nomination was challenged by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Advocate Qadir Khan Mandokhail.
The election tribunal has summoned the respondents for arguments tomorrow, while serving notices to them.
It is pertinent to mention here that senate elections are scheduled to take place on March 03, 2021.
