'Saqib Nisar allowed himself to be forced to take an unconstitutional and illegal step'

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday termed the alleged audio clip of former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar a charge sheet against him.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday called upon former chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to answer who had allegedly pressurized him to convict her and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.
While addressing a presser, PML-N Vice President said that Saqib Nisar will have to speak the truth one day and tell the nation who pressurized him to unjustly sentence the three-time prime minister. "Who asked you to bring Imran Khan into power?" she said while addressing the former chief justice.
Maryam said that as soon as the audio came out, propaganda regarding the clip began to prove that the clip was doctored despite the fact that a very renowned American company did the forensic analysis of the clip.
"They have clearly stated that the clip has not been edited in any way", she added.
She also asked Saqib Nisar that why he allowed himself to be forced to take an unconstitutional and illegal step.
Maryam's statement come three days after the alleged audio of the former top judge was leaked. The clip was purported of a conversation between Nisar and an unidentified man regarding Nawaz and Maryam trial.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the viral leaked audio clip, Justice (retd) Saqib Nisar had allegedly passed instructions to some unidentified person to sentence Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
On the other hand, Justice (retd) Nisar termed the leaked audio clip of his conversation with an unidentified person as “fabricated” and contrary to fact.
However, Fact Focus’s analysis report certifies the integrity of the audio file and states that “this audio has not been edited in any way”. The firm obtained this audio some two months ago and had it examined by a leading American firm specializing in multimedia forensics.
The leaked conversation is as follows:
As per the leaked audio, Chief Justice Nisar instructed that Mian Sahib (Nawaz Sharif) and his daughter (Maryam Nawaz) must be sentenced even though it is unfair.
Saqib Nisar: Let me be a little blunt about it; unfortunately, here it is the “institutions” who dictate judgments. In this case, we will have to penalize Mian Sahib, and “they” say “we shall bring Khan Sahib”.
Anonymous: But, in my view, ‘His daughter [Maryam Nawaz] doesn’t merit a sentence.
Saqib Nisar: You are absolutely correct. I did talk to my friends that something should be done about this but they did not agree.
“Regardless of the merit, we will have to do it (sentence Nawaz Sharif), and even to his daughter”.
“There will be no independence of the judiciary, so let it be…”
