"MD CAT is a legal requirement, no private medical college can escape MD CAT"

Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Thursday has declared Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) mandatory for admissions in medical colleges.
According to details, the Supreme Court took a plea against MD CAT test filed by medical students. The top court dismissed the appeals filed against MD CAT and upheld the decision of the Lahore High Court. The court, in its written judgment, declared MD CAT mandatory for admissions in medical colleges. The five-page judgment was issued by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The court remarked that the MD CAT is a legal requirement, the procedure of private medical colleges for admission is not related to MD CAT. No private medical college can escape MD CAT.
In October this year, the Lahore High Court had declared the MD CAT for admissions in medical colleges valid as per law and rejected all the applications filed for re-entry test of MD CAT.
The Lahore High Court had said in its judgment that the move of Examination 2021 under section 18 of the PMC Act 2020 was correct. An advertisement was placed in the newspaper for the entry test of MD CAT. At that time Students took part in the MD CAT entry test and not challenged by anyone.
