Election Commission directs Railways Minister Azam Swati to appear in person
Azam Swati has tendered a written apology for making false allegations against Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)


Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has ignored the written apology of Railways Minister Azam Swati directing him to appear before the commission in person to extend his apology
According to details, a three-member bench of the Election Commission headed the show cause notice case of Federal Minister Railway, Azam Swati.
Federal Minister of Railway Azam Swati has tendered a written apology to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for making false allegations against the ECP and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
Barrister Ali Zafar submitted the apology to the Election Commission on behalf of Azam Swati.
Barrister Zafar Ali read the apology note stating that if his words offended the Election Commission then he apologizes moreover he wrote that he wants to see a stronger Election Commission and never tried to have disputes with the ECP and he is a federal minister and have always worked for strengthening of institutions.
The bench questioned barrister Ali Zafar as to where Azam Swati was. The lawyer answered, “Azam Swati is not here today, so I have appeared.”
The ECP Sindh member, Nisar Durrani objected to it, saying all institutions should respect each other.
The ECP ordered Azam Swati to appear before the commission in person for tendering his apology. The commission summoned Swati on December 22.
However, the ECP has also reserved its judgment over the written apology submitted by Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
