Spectacles were stolen from the statue of Quaid-e-Azam, the news emerged Sunday.
The statue of Quaid-e-Azam was installed in the Deputy Commissioner’s Complex in Vehari, Punjab.
According to local media reports, the theft occurred on December 4 when and the incident came to light via social media after a netizen shared a photo of the statue and highlighted that it was missing its glasses.
After being informed, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the Multan commissioner.
Usman Buzdar said that it’s a highly deplorable act and ordered legal action against the suspects.
The search for the burglars is still underway as the Police seek assistance with the CCTV footage from the cameras installed in the deputy commissioner’s office.
Earlier, the Baloch rebels had blown up the statue of Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the past. The attack took place in Pakistan’s Gwadar city where China is investing billions of dollars under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Reports quoting sources said that this statue of Jinnah was installed earlier this year in the Marine Drive area, which is considered a safe area.
It may be recalled that hockey and ball were also stolen from the statue of Olympian Samiullah at Hospital Chowk in Bahawalpur—reported on July 19.
