Singing maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan turns 47
Acclaimed Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan turned 47 on Thursday (December 9) following which social media has been flooded with birthday wishes.


Lahore: Acclaimed Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan turned 47 on Thursday (December 9) following which social media has been flooded with birthday wishes.
Born in 1974, into a South Asian musical family, Rahat began formal vocal training at the age of seven. He is the nephew of sub-continent's legendary Qawwal Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and also had the honour of studying and performing under the tutelage of his uncle referred to as “King of Qawwali”.
The legendary singer has more than 50 albums to his credit and has performed in numerous high-profile concerts around globe.
Moreover, the singer has sung over 150 songs in both Lollywood and Bollywood.
Oxford University had described him as a "Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawali, a devotional music of Muslim Sufis", while announcing that he will be conferred with an honorary degree.
In June 2020, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was awarded with an honorary degree from the prestigious Oxford University.
Rahat has also been honored with various awards while he is enthusiastic to contribute as much as he can to the music industry of Pakistan.
