PM Imran Khan inaugurates trial operations of Green Line BRT project
'Development in Karachi will lead country's progress'
Karachi: Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the trial operations of the multi-billion Green Line bus transit project in Karachi.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the Green Line station and inspected the buses while he was also briefed by the authorities regarding the project.
While addressing to the attendees of the inaugural event, PM Imran Khan said that development in Karachi will lead country's progress.
"The management of these cities is modern, which is why the cities are developed," he said.
He shed light on environmental issues Karachi is facing due to the growing population and said that measures to reduce pollution must be taken.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in the metropolitan city to inaugurate the trial operations of the Green Line project. Federal Minister Asad Umar, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others accompanied the Prime Minister on the occasion.
Karachi’s Green Line BRT project with intersections is 24 km long which includes 12.7 km elevated, 10.9 km at grade, and 422 meters underground, and has 25 stations.
The phase-II common corridor from Gurumandir up to Municipal Park with a length of 2.5 km has two underpasses at M.A Jinnah Road.
The state-of-art subversive bus terminal with a parking facility and the commercial mezzanine floor was being also being constructed at Numaish. The construction work on Phase-I was started in 2016.
