Islamabad: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has said that a final decision regarding winter vacations will be taken within two days.

Speaking to the journalists in Islamabad, the federal minister said that the weather is also quite cold. He said that the final decision of winter holidays will be taken in coming one or two days. 

“We suggested the winter vacations from December 25 to January 4 but the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has postponed the holidays regarding vaccination due to the medical point of view.

“We will follow the directions of the Ministry of Health and the NCOC regarding to remain open the educational institutions or not.”

Shafqat Mehmood said that they have taken a step towards digital verification as Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to move towards digital facilities. He also said that a system of verification has been started by applying QR code which will facilitate.

“Congratulations to the IBCC. This is an example that our government has fulfilled the promise to provide facilities to the people."

Earlier today, Shafqat Mahmood has to make a final decision about winter vacations as the meeting held at the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday remained inconclusive. This decision regarding the winter break was expected to be made by the federal education minister after consultations with NCOC chief Asad Umar and Dr Faisal Sultan, the prime minister's special assistant on health. 

After the meeting on Tuesday, Shafqat Mahmood had tweeted that the agreed proposal was that winter holidays should be from Dec 25 to Jan 4 and further notifications will be made by the concerned governments.
