Mahira explains ‘misconstrued’ slogan Mera Jism Meri Marzi
Karachi: Pakistan’s biggest celebrity, Mahira Khan has talked about the controversial slogan of Aurat March ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’ and said that it has been misconstrued and misrepresented.

While speaking in Mira Sethi’s talk show, the 36-year old explained why she attends Aurat March every year.
“It’s important for me to march every year because my voice has weight and I know people would be willing to listen to me. When I go to the Aurat March, I make it a point to tell everyone that this is what I believe in. It does not benefit me but it is important for the women [present there], so I represent them,” she said.
Referring to the controversial slogan ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’, the Raees actor said that it is very important for people to get true meaning behind it.
“I feel like I can go and explain it, because I [as a celebrity] will get the time to explain it. When I say Mera Jism Meri Marzi, I don’t mean I want strip my clothes off and run around naked. It means that I am human and this is my body and it is up to me to someone to stare or touch me. It means that I can report you if you don’t comply,” she said.
Mahira Khan has consistently showed support to Aurat March and has encouraged people to come out and participate for the causes women are fighting.
