Lahore reports another 44 Omicron cases
'288 out of 298 Omicron cases are reported from Lahore'
Lahore: Provincial capital Lahore on Sunday reported 44 cases of coronavirus new variant Omicron, taking the tally to 288.
According to details, Punjab Health Department confirmed that the number of patients infected with Omicron variant has risen to 298 across the province.
The provincial health department stated that 288 out of 298 Omicron cases are reported from Lahore.
The fast-spreading variant which has already wreaked havoc in the USA, UK, France and other European countries has started unleashing its wrath in Pakistan.
According to the statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday morning, there were 1,572 new infections and seven deaths from the coronavirus in the country during the last 24 hours pulling the positivity ratio up to 3.16%.
On December 9, the first Omicron variant case was detected in Karachi by doctors at a private hospital.
Minister for Planning and NCOC head Asad Umar last week warned that there were clear signs that the country was going to be hit by another wave of Covid-19 pandemic as genome sequencing revealed that the Omicron variant cases started surging across the country particularly in Karachi.
