Gujranwala: A seven-year-old child died due to the alleged violence of his uncle and aunt.

According to the police, uncle and aunt allegedly severely tortured their young nephews, as a result of which seven-year-old Sultan died and two-year-old Saqlain was injured in Gondlanwala, area of Gujranwala.

The police stated that the children's parents are in jail on drug charges.

When the incident took place, the uncle took the injured child to the hospital and claimed that he was injured in a traffic accident, added police.

According to the police, seeing the nature of the injuries on the child's body, the doctors called the police, while the child could not succumb to the injuries and died in the hospital.

Police continued that a case has been registered and the accused husband and wife have been arrested.

Permission of WASA mandatory for borewells, tube wells installation

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) made the installation of borewells and tube wells subject to the permission of Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).

According to the details, a hearing was held in the LHC on the petitions filed for the remedy of smog, during which the court said that no bore can be constructed without WASA’s permission and no tube well can be installed without its permission. The tube well installed without the permission of WASA should be sealed.

During the hearing, the counsel for the Judicial Commission told the court that Deputy Commissioner (DC) Narowal had ordered to de-seal the sealed unit under political pressure, on which the court ordered that DC Narowal to submit his report. Director General (DG) Environment should inform the court in case of any political pressure.

The court said that due to the efforts of the court, 50 recharge wells have been installed so far, which will help in securing rainwater.

WASA’s counsel told the court that meters have been installed on the tube wells in the housing societies which will help in maintaining the supply of certain amount of water.

 Later, the court adjourned further hearing of the case till next Friday.

Islamabad: Preparations have entered into the last stages for senate elections ahead on April 2.

According to the details, the printing of two columned ballot papers is continued for senate elections in printing presses of Karachi and Islamabad.   

Election commission stated that four colors of ballot papers are printing for senate elections. For the general seats of senate, a ballot paper of white color will be used.

On the other hand, a ballot paper of green color will be used for the seat of technocrat. Similarly, a ballot paper of pink color will be used for the reserve seats of women.

However, a ballot paper of yellow color will be used for the minority seats.

It should be noted that on 48 seats of senate the elections are scheduled on April 2 for which the voting will be conducted in four provincial and national assemblies.
