Lahore: The intercity transport in provincial capital has been suspended amid Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s call for protest at Minar-e-Pakistan.

However, metro bus service and city transport could be observed partially operational at different routes. The buses are running between Gajjumata and MAO College, while the section from MAO to Shahdara remains suspended due to road blockages.

City administration has blocked all the adjacent arteries and roads of Minar-e-Pakistan by placing containers and barricades.

On other hand, the Orange Line train service is operating normally despite the protest call.

In preparation for the protests, heavy police force has started reaching the main highways, with over 10,000 police personnel, including the anti-riot force, deployed across Lahore to maintain peace and order.

Police have been deployed inside the Azadi Flyover and Greater Iqbal Park, while students gathering on the top of the flyover were dispersed by the police.
