Proposed Constitutional Amendment: Senate adjourned indefinitely
Meeting of the Upper House regarding the proposed constitutional amendment was called at 12:30pm today
Islamabad: The meeting of the Senate has been postponed indefinitely on Monday.
Under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Senate Syedal Khan, the Upper House meeting began in which Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman presented a memorial resolution declaring Qadianis as non-Muslims.
According to the text of the resolution, the day of September 7, 1974 was historic not only for Pakistan but for Muslims all over the world, a long struggle of Muslims was successful on that day.
The resolution demanded that the Senate recommend to the government that the day be observed at the official level, declaring Qadianis as non-Muslims a national holiday.
Later, the meeting of the Senate was adjourned for an indefinite period. It is pertinent to note that the meeting of the Upper House regarding the proposed constitutional amendment was called at 12:30pm today.

Draft of constitutional amendment package released, 54 proposals included
Amendment to increase the retirement age of judges by three years is also part of the package
Islamabad: The document of the proposed constitutional amendment package has been released in which a total of 54 proposals have been included.
According to the draft, it has been proposed to name the Constitutional Court as the Federal Constitutional Court, while the proposal to change the structure of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) is also included in the draft, but the amendment to increase the retirement age of judges by three years is also part of the package.
According to the proposed amendment, the current Chief Election Commissioner will continue to work until the appointment of the new Chief Election Commissioner. The President will appoint the Chief Justice and other Justices of the Federal Constitutional Court. The proposal to ban dual citizenship for judges is also included in the constitutional package.
The amendment further stated that the vote of members crossing the floor would be counted. The Federal Constitutional Court will decide disputes between the federal or provincial governments and all constitutional petitions pending in the Supreme Court will be transferred to the Constitutional Court.

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Monday said that no one can agree on the draft that has come out regarding the constitutional amendment.
Talking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan stated that no draft was shared with them, adding “We demanded that the draft of the law should be shared with us and we will see it”.
He added that according to the leaked draft, no one can agree with it. They will transfer the judges against their will, which means that they will be transferred whenever they want. If a judge does not move, he will be bound to resign, the judiciary will be banned.
Barrister Gohar further said that all powers are being taken from the Supreme Court, how parallel courts will function. All parties should have been taken on board on the issue of constitutional amendments. If there is no draft law, what is there to build a consensus on?
