Rain forecast in Punjab today till June 1

Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted rain in various cities of Punjab including Lahore between July 28 and June 1.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, there is a possibility of heavy rain in various districts of Punjab from May 28 to June 1, dusty winds and thundershowers may occur in most of the districts of the province.

The PDMA spokesperson has forecast wind and rain in Rawalpindi, Murree, Guliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Mandi Bahauddin. Clouds will also pour rain in Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali.

Similarly, rain and storm have also been predicted in Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Jhang.

The PDMA has instructed the district administration across Punjab to be on alert, informing them of the weather situation.

On the other hand, in the upper regions of the country, the Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of rains till July 1.

According to the Meteorological Department, clouds will rain at few places in the upper regions of the country. The westerly winds will affect the upper regions of the country on May 28.

Weather forecasters say that between May 28 and 29, thundershowers are expected at a few places in Balochistan. While till June 1, rains with gusty winds are expected at most places in Punjab, including Islamabad and Murree.

According to the Department of Meteorology, today till June 1, rain with thunder is expected in some places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while in Gilgit-Baltistan there is also a possibility of wind, hail and rain. Due to the rains, the temperature is likely to decrease, while the heat wave will continue in the southern regions.

Meanwhile, in the provincial capital Lahore, the sun is still shining with its full zest today. The minimum temperature of the city is expected to go up to 28 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius.

According to the statistics of the meteorological department, the humidity in the air in the city has reached 29 percent while the wind speed has been recorded at 10 km per hour.

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Tuesday said that Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of pride not only for the Pakistani nation but also for the Muslim world.

In a special message on the historic day of Youm-e-Takbeer, Maryam Nawaz stated that she congratulates the nation, salutes to every member of the team who carried out the mission of national defense and to Nawaz Sharif who made Pakistan the first nuclear power.

Maryam Nawaz added: “Youm-e-Takbeer is a day of pride not only for the Pakistani nation but also for the Islamic world, the nuclear program is a symbol of Pakistan's strong defense”.

She continued to say that even today the Pakistani nation recognises the bold decisions of Nawaz Sharif. He made Pakistan a nuclear power for strong defense, now it is our mission to make it economically invincible.

The Chief Minister of Punjab also said that Nawaz Sharif did not compromise, nor bent, proud to be the daughter of such a great person. Today we have to reiterate the determination of unity and solidarity, hard work, courage, endurance and tolerance.

Irregularities of over Rs12bn revealed in Railways’ Property Land Department

Lahore: The irregularities of 12.5 billion rupees have been revealed in the Property and Land Department of Pakistan Railways.

According to the special audit report of the railways, total railway land in the country comprises 1.3532 million kanals. There are encroachments on 2,617 acres of land worth more than Rs3.49 billion.

According to the report, there are illegal petrol pumps on land worth more than 2.17 billion rupees in Karachi and Hyderabad. The 63 acres of land worth 4.40 billion rupees of Gilani railway station in Karachi has not been handed over, due to which the circular railway project could not operationalise. Even 602 railway quarters in Sukkur were also not completed.

Apart from this, dues of 221.2 million rupees have not yet been collected from various departments. Railways has suffered a loss of 1.16 billion rupees due to non-auction after the lease agreement with a private fitness company in Karachi was terminated.

According to the report, the staff deployed for the management of railway property lacks the required capacity and engineers are deployed at most of the locations.
