Court released Imran Khan, Faisal Javed in long march case

Islamabad: District and Session court Islamabad has released Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Senator Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, Ali Nawaz Awan and Asad Umar in long march vandalism case.

According to the details, judicial magistrate Shabbir Bhatti has approved the plea of release.

The court stated that according to the lawyers of the applicants Imran Khan and others did not know about the implemented section 144 in that area. Additional district magistrate did not issue the notification of section 144.

The court said that this case which was filed against Imran Khan and others is only for political revenge.

On the other hand, prosecutor said that Imran Khan and others deliberately blocked the GT road to create mess for the citizens.

The court further said that no notification appeared of imposed section 144 by the ruling government at that time. The police officer does not have the right to file the case. 11 witnesses were included in challan and no one came to court to record the statement.

FIA to physically remand journalist Asad Toor for five days

Islamabad: The journalist Asad Ali Toor has been handed over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on five-day physical remand.

After the arrest, Asad Ali Toor was produced in the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad, where the court handed him over to the FIA for five days in the case of running anti-judiciary campaign on social media.

The journalist was produced before Magistrate Mohammad Shabbir who also allowed Toor to meet his legal team for an hour.

During the hearing, Asad told the court that he is a journalist and cannot give his mobile phone, adding that “I twice appeared before FIA, my lawyer stated that he received the notice on February 24,”.

Ali Toor stated that he approached the High Court against the notice, and reached the FIA office with the order of high court's order stating to investigate about the First Information Report (FIR) and the allegations filed against him.

According to the text of the FIR, Asad allegedly conducted a hateful campaign against the judiciary of Pakistan on social media platforms YouTube and X (Twitter).

The FIR added that the journalist has been involved in the anti-state activities using social media platforms, therefore a case has been filed against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed concern over the arrest of journalist Asad Ali and demanded his immediate release.

Karachi: Pakistan Peoples party’s (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has formed a committee for presidential elections campaign.

According to the details, spokesperson of Bilawal house stated that Yusuf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Khursheed Shah and Naveed Qamar included in this committee.

It should be noted that Bilawal Bhutto stated that Arif Alvi could not handle the presidency so instead of impeachment bring a new president through the elections process.

PPP’s chairman said that it is declared in the constitution that in any case assembly’s session will be summoned on February 29.

He claimed that two case will be filed against Arif Alvi, one will be to break the assembly on the time of vote of no confidence and the second one will be not summoning the national assembly’s session according to the constitution.

Bilawal affirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will also be a part of Asif Zardari’s reconciliation process.
