CJP prioritizes judges’ appointment to vacancies in courts

He stated that before the appointment of judges, it is necessary to amend the rules of the high courts.

Lahore: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa Thursday said that it is a priority to fill the vacancies of judges in the Supreme Court and High Courts.

Addressing the Supreme Court Bar at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa wished the Supreme Court to be completed, saying that it is a priority to fill the vacancies of judges in the Supreme Court and the High Court.

He stated that before the appointment of judges, it is necessary to amend the rules of the high courts for which a committee has been established under the chairmanship of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. CJP requested the Chief Justice of the High Courts to gradually complete the number of judges in their Courts.

The Chief Justice added that whether the judges be appointed according to the existing procedure or the new rules, will be discussed with the parties according to the rules. The technology has limited the Supreme Court registries, at least no bench should be for less than a week.

Qazi Faez further said that it is to look into whether to keep the video link or the registry or both. The bar and the bench are not different. They always preferred the elected members of the bar. The process of making a bench on the registry has started from Lahore, in the next phase, other registries will be added.

Govt to continue PM relief package at utility stores

The utility stores plan to continue the Prime Minister package till June 2024.

Islamabad: The government has decided to continue the Prime Minister's Relief Package on utility stores after the end of Ramadan package.

According to the officials, under the Prime Minister's Relief Package, subsidy on five basic commodities will be maintained i.e., sugar, flour, ghee, pulses and rice to Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) users. Under the Prime Minister's relief package, a monthly subsidy of about three billion rupees will be given.

At utility stores, the price of sugar for BISP customers will be Rs109 per kg, while a 10 kg bag of flour will be available at Rs648 for BISP customers. The price of ghee per kg has been fixed at Rs393 for BISP customers.

Under the package, BISP users will get Rs25 subsidy per kilo of pulses and rice. The utility stores plan to continue the Prime Minister package till June 2024, the federal government will decide on the continuation of the package for the next financial year.

According to the details, Babar Azam was doing a press conference before the series against New Zealand in Rawalpindi. He affirmed that he has good relations with Shaheen Afridi.

He stated that his and Shaheen’s target is to win and play match for Pakistan. That is the priority of both the cricketers.

However, the fake rumors were running on social media regarding Shaheen Afridi’s anger on removing from the post of captaincy after the declared announcement of Babar Azam’s captaincy.

It should be noted that Babar Azam had resigned from captaincy due to the bad performance of national team in world cup 2023.
