Govt ready to withdraw PECA ordinance: Fawad Chaudhry
Minister says PTI Govt has given full mandate on PECA Ordinance to Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Pervez Elahi
Islamabad: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry announced on Wednesday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is ready to withdraw amendments recently made in the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act (PECA) through a presidential ordinance.
Talking in a private TV channel, the federal minister said the government is ready to withdraw the ordinance and bring the bill in consultation with the stakeholders. He also said his government has given a full mandate on PECA Ordinance to Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Pervez Elahi.
Fawad Chaudhry further stated that the Ch Pervez Elahi will make a proposal with the consultation of journalist organizations that will be implemented.
To a question, he said they will accept whatever decision Ch Pervez Elahi make in consultation with the journalist organizations.
