UK court declares Hassan Nawaz bankrupt
Hassan Nawaz has been declared bankrupt in the High Court in Case No. 694, which was filed on August 25, 2023
London: A London court declared Hassan Nawaz, the son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, bankrupt.
The Royal Court of Justice has ruled against Hassan Nawaz, according to which Hassan was declared bankrupt in a tax case filed by the Revenue Department.
According to court papers, Hassan Nawaz Sharif has been declared bankrupt by the London High Court in a tax case filed by the British government and the Revenue Department.
The official UK Gazette, which holds public records, has published details of the bankruptcy. It says that Hassan Nawaz, a resident of Flat 17 Avenfield House, 118 Park Lane, and a director of the company, has been declared bankrupt in the High Court in Case No. 694, which was filed on August 25, 2023.
According to the report, the bankruptcy order was issued on April 29, 2024, in a case filed by creditors for non-payment.
The civil case against Hassan Nawaz was initiated by the His Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC), represented by Cor Maxwell.
Under UK law, a bankruptcy order is part of the personal bankruptcy process. It is issued by the court to an individual, making them bankrupt. Bankruptcy orders are only published in the London Gazette, which they receive from the Insolvency Service.
A bankrupt person cannot act as a director or be involved in any way in the management of a company until they are discharged from bankruptcy and have obtained permission from the court to continue to act as a director.
Hassan Nawaz is still a director of several companies in the UK.
