Opposition bringing no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan: PDM chief

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday said it was decided in the meeting that no-confidence motion was being brought against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Talking to reporters, Rehman said majority of members are with them. "The main task is to reach the people in Parliament and maintain secrecy. We have reached the final steps," the PDM chief said.

He said there was a telephone contact with PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif during the consultation.

A joint statement was issued about the meeting between Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The statement said the political situation in the country and the no-confidence motion were discussed in the meeting.

Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif participated in all the consultations by phone during the meeting. The statement said that a draft no-confidence motion has been prepared, which was discussed in the meeting.

"We will restore the economic instability that the country has suffered over the years through this mistrust," the statement read.
