PMD advises public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight
Day temperatures are likely to remain 6-9 °C above normal
Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave warning from today and advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.
The spokesperson said due to high pressure, day temperatures are likely to increase gradually from 06 to 09°C above normal in most parts of the country.
The spokesperson said very hot and dry weather may cause water stress on water reservoirs, crops, vegetables, and orchards.
Tips to avoid Heatwave:
- Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as you can.
- Drink plenty of fluids even if you don’t feel thirsty.
- Avoid caffeinated beverages, as they can act as diuretics and promote dehydration.
- Take it easy during the hottest parts of the day and schedule outdoor activities carefully.
- Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
- Take cool showers to cool down.
- Never leave children or pets in cars.
- Check the local news for health and safety updates.
