E-voting system to be introduced by next election, announces Amin Ul Haque
Karachi: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin-Ul-Haque said that e-voting system would be introduced by next election in the country, allowing maximum number of citizens to cast their votes. .
While addressing a ceremony in Karachi, Federal Minister said that e-voting system will enable maximum number of overseas Pakistanis to participate in the election and cast their votes.
The Minister further said, "Investment of 22 billion rupees has been made to increase internet connectivity in the country".
"Government of Pakistan would launch G-5 service by the end of next year and also increase the penetration of G-4," he added.
Amin ul Haque said it is the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to make Pakistan a digital country and the IT ministry is already working on this vision.
He said the Ministry is also working to introduce e-office system for forty ministries
In 2020, Prime minister announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government planned to introduce electronic voting as a key measure to ensure transparency during the next general elections to avoid allegations of rigging.
