Islamabad: An accountability court in Islamabad Tuesday ended criminal proceedings in an assets’ beyond means case against Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar.

The judge hearing today's proceedings remarked, " The court no longer has the authority to hear the case after the NAB Amendment Act”.

Hence, the court concluded any further proceedings in the case.

The court had reserved its judgment on a petition filed by Ishaq Dar seeking his acquittal in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) case. The federal minister had submitted three pleas, including the one pertaining to exemption, through his legal counsel last week.

The court, after a brief hearing, accepted the minister’s plea for exemption from personal appearance.

The case was filed by the NAB in December 2017 against Finance Minister, accusing him of possessing assets disproportionate to his declared sources of income.
