The elections are scheduled to be held on April 30.
Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan announced to commence election campaign for his party from Lahore today (March 8).
PTI chairman Imran Khan turned to Twitter and wrote that he is starting the election campaign with a rally.
He said: “In KP and Punjab we will mobilize the people for a record turnout in this election, which will be historic in every sense”.
PTI will simultaneously confront the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties, their patrons, who were supposed to be neutral umpires and the state machinery, Khan added.
Addressing a joint presser, PTI leader Hammad Azhar stated “PTI chief would lead a rally in Lahore which is scheduled to begin from Zaman Park to Data Darbar,” adding that Khan’s bomb-proof vehicle, will lead the rally.
Hammad said that we would witness historic sciences when Imran would launch the election drive in the city.
He added that former prime minister would address the party workers in rally at different locations on his way to Data Darbar.
Referring to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s (PEMRA) ban on airing Imran’s speeches, Azhar said that nobody can stop Imran’s voice.
In the light of Supreme Court’s decision, President Dr. Arif Alvi announced the date of April 30 for Punjab elections after consulting the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor Ghulam Ali is yet to announce the date of province’s elections.
