Punjab announces increment in govt employees’ salaries
The federal government has increased the salaries of government employees by 35% in the budget of the next financial year.
Lahore: The caretaker government of Punjab Monday announced an increase in the salaries of government employees in the budget of next four months.
According to details, Punjab Information Minister Aamir Mir said in the press conference that it had been decided to increase the salaries of government employees by 30% in the budget. The pension are being increased by 5%, while the pension of people over 80 years of age will be increased by 20%.
Amir Mir added: “No new tax has been imposed in the budget, however the health and education sectors has been increased by 31%, while the development expenditure of the province will be Rs325 billion”.
The caretaker information minister said that the caretaker chief minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi has decided to pay off the debt of 600 billion rupees immediately. If the debt would not be paid, it would become as high as Rs1100 billion by the end of the year. Therefore this debt will be paid off in the next four months.
Aamir Mir added: “Journalist endowment fund of one billion rupees has also been established in the budget”.
On the other hand, the federal government has increased the salaries of government employees by 35% in the budget of the next financial year. While the Sindh government has also increased the salaries of government employees by 35% and the pension has been increased by 17 and a half percent.
