Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphaized over skills developmnet of the younger generation, saying that he wished he could give laptop to every talented student across the country.

The prime minister said he got an opportunity to meet the talented students who came up with innovations in different fields.  He appreciated the students, their parents and teachers, saying that the whole nation was proud of such capable students.

He stated that it was not the matter of just Rs1 million; it was about their talent, hoping that the talented students would provide excellent services soon as they would enter the practical field.

“I just want to say that the future of Pakistan lies in your skillful hands. For this, we need to invest in you, a lot of investment. And you deserve such investment. Those nations developed whose young generation is equipped with the knowledge and skills,” said the prime minister.

He recalled Punjab Skills Development Company when he was the chief minister, saying that they spent billions of rupees to train the young children. This program, he said, was started from the southern Punjab. The PM said that they selected different fields and chose the students for training against Rs10,000 as stipend.

He went on to say that they gave laptops to the high achievers during their previous government and set a quota for the students from different parts of the country including Gilgit-Baltistan. He stated that he handed over the laptops to the students rather than the weapons despite that his government faced huge criticism. The laptops, he said, helped a lot to the students during the Covid-19 period.

“I wish I could give laptop to every talented student of this country,” said PM Shehbaz. He added that the difficult times came in the nations’ way but if a nation was determined during these challenging times no one could stop their development.

He lauded China for unwavering support to Pakistan.

“My message is that we must get rid of loans. And those friendly countries of Pakistan also feel that when Pakistan will stop getting loans,” he added, pointing out that there had been natural resources.

Talking about the challenges and problems of the past one year, he said he did not need to go to the details but determination could help them steer the country out of crises.  He stated that unnecessary criticism hurt China.
