Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday allowed to conduct the election for chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), reportedly.

According to media reports, the court withdrew the injunction against the election of Chairman PCB.

It is pertinent to note that earlier on June 27, Justice Anwar Hussain of LHC gave verdict on the petition of the citizen and ordered to halt the election of Chairman PCB, issuing notice to the federal government, PCB Election Commissioner and other parties and sought their response.

On the judicial injunction, PCB approached the court stating in the petition that earlier this case was being heard by Justice Shahid Karim of LHC, but he did not issue an injunction on it. This item was hidden in the appeal submitted.

After hearing all the arguments, Justice Anwar Hussain gave a verdict on the petition for injunction and sent it to the Chief Justice to consolidate all the appeals in this regard.

It should be noted that Balochistan High Court (BHC) and Peshawar High Court have also issued an order to halt the election of PCB Chairman which was scheduled on June 27.

Notably a few days earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had demanded that Zaka Ashraf be appointed the chairman of PCB, after which Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif approved the names of Zaka Ashraf and Mustafa Ramday for the Board of Governors to be appointed as PCB Chairman.

It is expected that former chairman Zaka Ashraf will once again take over the post of chairman PCB.
