Court issues notices to parties in Khadija Shah case
After hearing the arguments, court issued notices to the relevant parties summoning the responses from them.
Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday heard the petition filed for the bail of renowned designer Khadija Shah involved in May 9 vandalism case, GNN reported.
According to details, two-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Naqvi heard the bail plea of Khadija Shah in the presence of Shah’s lawyer.
Khadija’s lawyer told the court that his client is in the jail for judicial remand. No further investigation is required from her, therefore there is no point of her imprisonment.
The lawyer told the court that designer has three children and the youngest one is five-year-old. He also presented the medical report of his client.
After hearing the arguments, court issued notices to the relevant parties summoning the responses from them.
Earlier on Monday, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore extended the judicial remand of the designer for 14 days to be produced on July 17 who was arrested in Jinnah House arson and vandalism case on May 9. Moreover, the judge also ordered the police to submit a challan for the case.
Notably, Khadija Shah is currently imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore. Her granddaughter is the former Army Chief General Asif Nawaz Janjua and father is former Finance Advisor Salman Shah.
Last month, a representative of US Consulate met Khadija Shah in the jail as she is also a US national.
The meeting of the Consulate representative with the designer lasted for about an hour during which the legal aspects related to her release were reviewed.
