Comedian Albela remembered on 19th death anniversary
He also performed in television plays in his career spanning over 50 years.


Lahore: The renowned Pakistani comedian Akhtar Hussain Albela was remembered on his 19th death anniversary on Monday.
Albela is recognised as Pakistan’s renowned film, stage and television actor and one of the actors who transformed theatre, evolving the present commercial theatre.
Albela's partnership with another legend, Amanullah, was so strong that the two of them controlled the theater for ten years. Albela and Amanullah are regarded as the founders of Punjabi theater.
They raised the standard of theater and were instrumental in turning it into a thriving industry.
Akhtar's long career as a comedian in movies, television, and theater. In 1963, his debut movie, "Rishtay," was released.
Albela featured in many movies including ‘Wardatia’ ‘Badnam’, ‘Yaar Maar’, ‘Ishq Nachawe Gali Gali’, ‘Allah Ditta’, ‘Siren’, ‘International Luttairey,’ ‘Majhoo’, ‘Abdullah The Great’, ‘Hero’, and ‘Khandan’.
Albela's outstanding theater work will live on in memory forever. He appeared in a lot of plays and theatre productions.
Albela was born in Gojra, Toba Tek Singh District and came to Lahore at a very young age to become an actor.
He also performed in television plays in his career spanning over 50 years. Albela died in Lahore on July 17, 2004.
