China implements strict restrictions on children's phone usage
Gaming platforms received instructions to limit online gaming for children under 18 to a maximum of 3 hours per week.
Beijing: China has decided to enforce strict regulations regarding smartphone usage among children.
The Cyberspace Administration of China has issued detailed guidelines with the aim of reducing children's access to mobile devices.
The proposed regulations state that children will not be allowed to access the internet on their mobile devices from 10 PM to 6 AM.
Additionally, children between the ages of 16 and 18 will be allowed a maximum of 2 hours of mobile phone usage daily.
Previously, in 2021, the Chinese government had already imposed limits on online gaming for children.
Gaming platforms were instructed to allow children under 18 to play online games for only up to 3 hours per week.
Under the new regulations, technology companies will be responsible for enforcing the rules, though the penalties for non-compliance have not been specified.
Companies have been instructed to create content suitable for children under 3 years of age, focusing on educational news and entertainment for children under 12.
