New York's street named 'Allama Iqbal'
People celebrate the naming of the road after national poet 'Allama Muhammad Iqbal' on Pakistan's independence day.
New York: On the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day, a street in Queens Borough of New York City has been named after the national poet, "Allama Muhammad Iqbal."
The inauguration of "Allama Iqbal Avenue" took place in the Richmond Hill section of Queens, where people waved the national flag and cheered 'Pakistan Zindabad' (Long Live Pakistan).
In the United States, Pakistan's Ambassador, Masood Khan, extended congratulations to Ali Rashid, President of the American Pakistani Advocacy Group, on the establishment of "Allama Iqbal Avenue" in New York under his leadership.
He commended Ali Rashid's determined efforts to strengthen better relations between Pakistan and the United States and to raise awareness about Pakistan's history and culture.
Addressing the occasion, Adrian Adams, Speaker of the New York City Council, expressed pride in naming 109th Street and 101st Avenue as "Allama Iqbal Avenue" on Pakistan's Independence Day.
He emphasized that it's due to Allama Iqbal's work and vision that Pakistan stands today as a free nation.
