Investigation into Nawab shah train accident underway, NA told
The railways minister says JUI-F does not believe in demoralizing the state institutions and people working with them.
Islamabad: Minister for Communication leader of JUI-F leader Maulana Asad Mahmood has emphasized on upholding the Constitution, strengthening democracy, and respecting the state institutions.
Speaking on the floor of the House, he said JUI-F does not believe in demoralizing the state institutions and people working with them. He said we respect sacrifices of all the political parties for the cause of democracy and the constitution in the country.
The Minister further said we should work for forging unity amongst the people to restore peace in the country in order to achieve economic goals for the prosperity of the countrymen.
Regarding the fight against terrorism, he said his party recently convened a Grand National Jirga of Tribal people, which proposed Pakistan and Afghanistan to formulate a common strategy to fight terrorism.
Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said investigation into the railway accident, near Nawabshah, is underway and its final report compiled in a couple of days.
Explaining the cause of the accident in the National Assembly, he said two wheels of a bogie were jammed when the train embarked from Karachi, which should have been removed from the train. Besides, a piece of railway track near the accident site was damaged, which led to the accident. He said six railway officials have been suspended and 1.5 million rupees compensation each is being given to the families of the deceased passengers.
The Minister, however, rejected the media reports regarding use of wood as a joint in the railway track.
The House also passed “The Islamabad Nature Conservation and Wildlife Management Bill, 2023,” and “The Wapda University Islamabad Bill, 2023,”
The House will now meet tomorrow [Wednesday] at 2.pm.
