Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Saturday issued a written order on the petition against the ban on petrol sales without helmets for bike riders.

According to details, Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh issued an interim order on the citizen's plea. Other parties including the Deputy Commissioner should submit a detailed reply in the next hearing.

According to the petitioner, the notification banning the supply of petrol without helmets is illegal. The decision of High Court has also been submitted in favor of the reasons for filing the petition.

Until the next hearing, the notification banning the supply of petrol without helmets will remain suspended. The court adjourned further proceedings on the application till August 16.

Earlier on Friday (yesterday), Lahore High Court suspended the notification banning the sale of petrol without helmet.

Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh heard the petition of citizen Irfan Bashir. The court suspended the ban notification and issued a notice to the federal government and others and sought their response.

The court said how this ban can be imposed by mere notification, doing so is a denial of fundamental rights. It is appropriate for the government to legislate in this regard.
