Imran’s appeal is against trial court verdict: IHC

The court directed Khan's appeal for suspension of sentence to be decided soon.

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Saturday issued a written order for the hearing on appeal against the conviction of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan in Tosha Khana case.

According to details, a bench comprising Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri said in its decision that the appeal of Chairman PTI is against the August 05 decision of the trial court.

It has been said in the verdict that a trial was conducted against Chairman PTI following the complaint of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The trial court sentenced Imran Khan to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs100,000.

In the order, Islamabad High Court issued notices on the appeal against the sentence and appeal for suspension of sentence while seeking the complete record of Tosha Khana case against former prime minister.

The court directed Khan's appeal for suspension of sentence to be decided soon.

Notably, Imran Khan had requested to suspend the sentence given by the trial court and release on bail.
