Lahore: A formal petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking a ban on the popular social media app TikTok.

A formal petition is received from a citizen regarding a ban on the well-known social media application TikTok.

The petition argues that TikTok is contributing to the degradation of the younger generation by allowing the incessant sharing of explicit content. The platform has exposed youngsters to indecent and harmful content, leading to detrimental consequences.

Numerous young individuals have resorted to creating videos on TikTok that have endangered their lives.

Therefore, the petition calls for the imposition of a ban on such content on TikTok.

Citizen Rana Usman Anwar has, through the efforts of Advocate Sahil Ahmed Sheikh, created a coalition including political parties like PTI and the federal government to address this matter.

The petition also references Article 5 of the constitution, which mandates every citizen to remain loyal to the state.

It points out that many countries have already imposed bans on TikTok due to similar concerns.

It's important to note that Pakistan has previously imposed temporary bans on TikTok on various occasions due to different reasons.

However, these bans have often been short-lived, lasting only a few days.
