Pak army gets second batch of COVID jabs from Chinese military

Earlier, the Pakistani military received the first shipment of the vaccines from the Chinese military on February 8 becoming the first army of any country to be vaccinated by the Chinese army.

According to China Military Online, for the implementation of President Xi Jinping's important declaration on making China's COVID-19 vaccine a global public good, with the approval of the Central Military Commission and at the request of the Pakistani military, the second batch of COVID-19 vaccines assisted by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was delivered to the Pakistani military on May 6.

The vaccine has been developed in cooperation with the Chinese army.

Meanwhile, the first batch of the Chinese CanSino shots which have been purchased by Pakistan has also reached the country.

According to the Chinese company, the purpose of the vaccine is to ensure the supply of a large number of vaccines in Pakistan while vaccine will be available on a commercial basis.

The first batch of CanSino vaccine arrived in Pakistan in March and was purchased by the Pakistani government itself.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that Pakistan vaccinated over 200,000 people against Covid-19 in one day, which is the highest number of people inoculated in 24 hours in the country.

The news was shared by Asad Umar, who also heads the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).

The minister stated that there has been an increase in the registration for the coronavirus jabs and so far more than 500,000 people have registered for the vaccine.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than the previous two waves.

Pakistan has reported 140 Covid-related fatalities and 4,298 new cases in one day as the country is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than the previous two waves.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 4,298 cases of coronavirus were reported while 140 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 18,677.

The total number of confirmed cases reached 850,132.

As many as 743,124 patients have recovered from the disease with 5,107 critical cases.
