Gen. Munir highlighted a strong focus on the sessions' need to improve defense and training cooperation.


Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his Turkiye visit on Wednesday.
According to ISPR, Mr. Erdogan met with the Pakistan Army chief in the Presidential Complex. Hakan Fidan, the Turkish minister of foreign affairs, was also there.
The trip is a part of a series of high-level encounters between the two friendly nations in an effort to strengthen their long-standing diplomatic and military ties.
The COAS also met with the Turkish general staff commander, the foreign and defense ministers, and the land and air force commanders while in Turkey.
Gen. Munir highlighted a strong focus on the sessions' need to improve defense and training cooperation.
He commended the Turkish Armed Forces' operational preparedness levels as well as their efforts to uphold peace and stability in the area.
Leaders in Turkey recognized the contributions made by Pakistani Army engineers who assisted NDMA troops following the tragic earthquake that struck Turkey in February of this year.
The COAS paid respects to the great leader by visiting the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in Ankara and placing a floral wreath in his honor.
Later, he paid a visit to the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he was welcomed with open arms and awarded the Guard of Honor.
In addition, the commander of the Turkish Land Forces and the defense minister presented COAS with the Legion of Merit in appreciation of his efforts to advance bilateral defense relations.
COAS emphasized during the ceremony that Pakistan and Turkey had "strong brotherly relations that have always stood the test of time." The Pakistani Army is always ready to offer the Turkish Land Forces total support across a variety of fields. In times of calamity and success, Pakistan has always stood with its Turkish brothers, and it will continue to deepen the bonds of brotherhood between the two countries.
