Islamabad: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Friday remanded journalist Muhammad Khalid Jamil in the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for two days following his arrest over a controversial tweet.
Following his detention last night under the Cyber Crime Act, the journalist was today brought before an Islamabad district and sessions court.
Khalid Jamil's lawyers strongly objected to the FIA's proposal for a 10-day physical custody of the journalist during the hearing.

He also noted that by detaining the journalist, the agency had violated the judgment of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Journalist Khalid Jamil received a two-day physical remand after Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Bhatti heard arguments from both sides and rejected the FIA's request.
