PML-N appeals extension for nomination papers’ submission
The letter stated that the ECP can modify the schedule without changing the polling date.
Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Thursday requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to amend the election schedule apart from the polling date.
According to the details, former finance minister and (N) League senior leader Ishaq Dar sent a letter to the Election Commission for an extension of two days in the date of submission of nomination papers.
The letter stated that the ECP can modify the schedule without changing the polling date. Only three days have been allotted for the submission of nomination papers and seven days have been allocated for their scrutiny, various documents along with nomination papers have to be submitted.
It was further stated that NOCs from various government departments have to be attached along with the nomination papers, therefore time is required to complete the documents as the papers get rejected due to incomplete documents.
In the letter, it has been appealed that for the convenience of the candidates, the Election Commission should extend the date of submission of nomination papers by two days and the election schedule should be amended without changing the polling date of February 8.
