Elections: Scrutiny of nomination papers starts in Lahore

Lahore: The scrutiny of nomination papers of candidates for upcoming general elections 2024 has started in various constituencies of Lahore.

According to the details, the papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders were checked on the first day, while the papers of Hanan Hayat, an independent candidate from NA-125, were rejected on the grounds of youth.

Returning Officers in Commissioner Office Lahore scrutinized the candidates of NA-118 and NA 121.

Hamza Shehbaz's papers for NA-118 were checked by his lawyer Ali Raza. The papers of Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman were also checked from the same constituency while PTI's Faisal Raza, Rizwan Zia and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Shahid Abbas’s documents were also checked.

Rana Ahsan Sharafat and Manzoor Butt from NA-121 submitted the papers of Ayaz Sadiq for scrutiny while the papers of Muslim League (N) Sheikh Rohail Asghar, Zulfiqar Ali Badr from PP-162 and PP-155 were also scrutinized. The papers of Talha Saeed, son of Hafiz Saeed from PP-155 were examined.

It is pertinent to note that the process of document verification will continue till December 30 and the document verification of certain minority and women candidates will start from December 26.
