Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Interior's recommendation for the deployment of Pakistan Army and Special Armed Forces personnel for maintaining peace and security during upcoming general elections.
The approval was given by the Cabinet, which met in Islamabad today with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in the chair. It has been decided these security personnel will be responsible for sensitive areas and polling stations and will also serve as a rapid response force.
Regarding proposals related to the restructuring and digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue, the Prime Minister directed the formation of an inter-ministerial committee, led by the Minister of Finance, to review the proposed FBR reforms.
The Committee members include federal ministers for accountability, foreign affairs, commerce, energy, law and justice, and information technology. The committee will present its recommendations in the next federal cabinet meeting.
During the meeting, the detailed proposals for increasing tax revenue, improving the tax-GDP ratio, and enhancing the administrative framework of the FBR were presented. A committee, led by the Minister of Treasury, was formed to oversee the implementation of these proposals and will present further recommendations in the upcoming cabinet meeting.
Based on the recommendation of the Ministry of National Health, the cabinet approved appointments of representatives for medical colleges and private healthcare establishments in the registration board of the Islamabad Health Regulatory Authority.
Similarly, a search committee, led by the Minister of National Health Services, was established for the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University Islamabad.
The cabinet also endorsed decisions made during the Economic Coordination Committee’s meeting held on 9th of this month.
