PTI leader Hammad Azhar also quits from elections
Hammad's lawyer withdrew the appeal from the court and the former minister also announced his withdrawal from the elections.
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former minister Hammad Azhar Wednesday announced his withdrawal from the general elections.
In the Supreme Court, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Jamal Mandukhel heard the case related to the rejection of Hammad Azhar's nomination papers, in which the assistant counsel told the court that Hamad did not want to pursue the appeal.
Justice Mansoor questioned why the High Court referred to 62 1F in its decision. The decision of the Supreme Court is clear that Article 62 1F does not automatically apply.
Justice Mansoor said that PTI leader will not benefit from the decision due to withdrawal of appeal. Justice Jamal added that it seems that Hammad Azhar does not want to surrender.
Later, Hammad's lawyer withdrew the appeal from the court and the former minister also announced his withdrawal from the elections.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar was an independent candidate from NA-129.
