In January 2024 only, mobile phones worth Rs54.64 billion were imported.


Islamabad: The imports of mobile phones have increased by 138 percent on a year-on-year basis.
According to the report of the Bureau of Statistics, the import of mobile phones has increased by 138% this fiscal year, with import worth Rs281.83 billion from July to January.
It is reported that 987.5 million dollars of foreign exchange was spent on the import of mobile phones. Last year in the same period, phones worth $41.48 million were imported.
In January 2024 only, mobile phones worth Rs54.64 billion were imported. In January, imports of phones increased by 275%, the volume was 19.49 million dollars.
On the other hand, a total increase of 16.61% was recorded in the import of machinery. From July to January $4.35 billion of machinery was imported. The import of agriculture, office, electrical and the import of telecom machinery increased while power generation, textile and construction machinery decreased.
